Meta Quest, Apple Vision Pro & PlayStation VR
A headset watches your eyes, your hands and your living room.
Consumer VR is American, Japanese and Chinese: Meta by a distance, then Apple, Sony, Valve, and Pico from ByteDance. Given that these devices map the inside of your home and track where your eyes go, it is an uncomfortable category to have no European entry in. There is one European maker and it deserves naming: Varjo of Helsinki builds headsets with genuinely better optics than anything here. They are enterprise and simulation equipment costing thousands of euros, so this stays a gap in the sense that matters — you cannot buy a European headset for your living room.

Not an unfinished card: we looked, and nothing in Europe does this at a scale you could actually switch to. It is here so the gap is visible — these are the places where something is missing rather than merely losing.
