Europa monterar drivverket. Ingen här tillverkar det som finns inuti det.
Varje SSD, minneskort och RAM-sticka som säljs i Europa innehåller NAND flash eller DRAM från ett av fem företag, inget av dem är europeiskt: Samsung och SK hynix i South Korea, Micron i United States, Kioxia i Japan och YMTC i China. De europeiska varumärkena på lagringskortet — Intenso, Angelbird, iStorage — är genuint europeiska företag som utför äkta arbete med kontroller, fastvara, kryptering och support. De köper kisel. Det har inte funnits någon europeisk minnesfab sedan Qimonda i Munich gick i konkurs 2009.
