Twitch & Kick
Live video went one way and nothing European followed.
Live streaming is Amazon's Twitch, with YouTube Live second and Kick a distant Australian third. Europe has no platform at a scale a streamer could move to without losing their audience, and the network effect here is unusually brutal: viewers follow streamers, streamers follow viewers, and a platform with neither cannot bootstrap either. Owncast, self-hosted and open source, works technically and solves none of that.
